Sridevi death : An ode to the Evergreen Bollywood diva

Evergreen Bollywood diva  Sridevi

Sridevi Death; It wouldn’t be an understatement to call Sridevi an icon. The lady was born to rule the silver screen. Born as Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan in the year 1963. Now Sridevi no more between us. This diva started acting at the tender age of four. Her first movie venture as an adult was in critically-acclaimed K Balachander`s Moondru Mudichu. She never looked back after that and continued to act in several massive, cult films such as Sigappu Rojakkal, 16 vayathinile, Johnny, Varumayin Niram Sivappu, Priya etc.

After spilling the magic of her phenomenal beauty and acting skills in the south, Sridevi Bollywood Career; Sridevi started her Bollywood venture as a lead in Solva Sawan, a 1978 film. A chubby-faced beauty Sridevi made her début opposite two superstars down south, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. But Moondru Mudichu was a film that brought together three superstars. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call Sridevi the first pan-Indian woman superstar who defied age, language, and state borders. In recent years, several celebrities made the transition from the south to north; but Sridevi’s success is extraordinary.

Sridevi was one of the earliest stars who proved that women-centric films could draw audiences to the theatre. No doubt she was the recipient of five Filmfare awards and The Padma Shri award. She broke all the stereotypes about older female actresses not getting a meaty role and made a power-packed comeback with English Vinglish which was a massive hit. It was a dream for all her fans across the country to see Sridevi back on the big screen after 15 years, as the beautiful and high-spirited housewife. Sridevi was there setting an example to younger actresses that female actors were no longer just arm candy, way before women-centric films were the norm.

February 24, 2018, could be called as a black day in the history of Indian cinema as the curse of mortality took away one of the finest professionals. Sridevi Boney Kapoor has left an inimitable mark on the psyche of the country, as an actor who has inspired generations. Even as we scrounge through the database to write this short piece as an ode to the powerhouse of talent that is Sridevi, the shock of sudden death of Sridevi is still incomprehensible somewhere in the corner of our hearts. The silver screen will make sure to keep her story alive even if her mortal existence ended!

Thrilling from the word “Go” -

From the trailer itself, it can be predicted what the plot will be about. Josh is number 4 on the list of patients who need donors. And he has been given just 6 more months to live. The twist in the story comes in the form of Kabir Sawant, a cop, who, lost his child too and is yet to come to terms with it, unlike his estranged wife. The thrilling series has made people sit up and take notice of it.

Episodic Format –

Unlike most other web series which release all episodes together, Breathe leaves you on tenterhooks because you have to guess what’s gonna happen until the next episode comes out. That is what will make people binge watch it more now since the last episode comes out today.

Cliffhanger –

The climax of every episode so far, or so we suppose, leaves people on a cliffhanger of sorts. Every episode comes with the same alacrity which will make people glued to it till the very last scene. Once the final episode is out today, there is no reason why one wouldn’t put Breathe in their “to watch” list.

R Madhavan –

The man is reasoning enough for you to give this series a try. A psychological thriller, Maddy has showcased his brilliance and versatility as an actor playing a father going the extra mile, without bothering about right or wrong, to save his child. This series is Madhavan’s debut on the web after Richa Chadda and Vivek Oberoi.

Emotional Connect –

All the characters in the series are grappling with deep-seated emotional issues stemming from things that happened to them. Apart from Danny, we have cop Kabir, played by Amit Sadh, who has added his brilliance as Danny’s opponent when he is assigned the investigation of the murders and, in the process, deals with his own emotional crisis on the loss of his child. While his wife has come to terms with the child’s death, he is yet to grapple with it. And that adds to the narrative.

The Man with Reinvention: Decoding Hit Machine Akshay Kumar

Akshay  kumar  hit movies

“Hum hain seedhe-sadhe Akshay Akshay”.....Remember this song from one of Rajiv Bhatia’s movies in the 90s? How different the image of the man was back then!! All of that has changed since the second decade of the 21st century. The man who was dubbed Khiladi Kumar once because of all the action-packed films he did has successfully reinvented himself, and how! Reinvention is the key to his success.

Those who have seen him in the latest episode of  Koffee with Karan know how Twinkle  Khanna revealed how she told him she wouldn’t have a second child if he doesn’t choose sensible movies. Many of Akshay  kumar  hit movies in the 2000s were out and out comedies, including Garam Masala and even seemingly average content films like Action Replayy, De Dana Dan, and more such multi-starrer comedies. But, that was at a time when mainstream actors shied away from being comedic and comedians ruled the roost. Always a risk taker, Akshay Kumar was not one to back down in spite of criticism.

Now that the man is financially secure enough, he has begun to look for films that have content at their heart. And also, he makes sure they depict the reality from the ground. Unlike most actors who choose lavish, urban roles, Akshay Kumar went ahead for social issues rooted in small towns of India. Even in a movie like Jolly LLB 2, we see him riding a scooter, accepting bribes and then, after a change of heart, fighting against a corrupt police system.

Made under his banner Hari Om Entertainment, OMG! Oh My God! Hit the bull’s eye with its depiction of religious fanaticism while movies like Airlift and Naam Shabana were all about the country. Akshay has ringed in a different form of patriotism, unlike that of Manoj Kumar. To say that he continues to be a trendsetter will not be an understatement.

There was a time when it was alleged that Akshay Kumar would edit out scenes of his co-actors if they seemed to overshadow him. Well, going by his current crop of movies, his co-actors too display their skills and add to the quality of the film. Akshay kumar Upcoming movies  2.0 and Gold where he plays the antagonist.

Akshay Kumar now plays “seedha saadha” characters on screen. Akshay kumar Pad Man sees him speaking broken English in a conference, right? For someone who had no godfather in the industry and a fairly tough life, a journey with such variety speaks volumes about his growth.

first look Super 30

The shooting of  Hrithik Roshan’s upcoming movie Super 30 got its 1st stone laid at Ramnagar Fort, Varanasi on 6th February. The shooting started with a tight security led by Vikash Bahl. Fans of the Greek god created a crowd wave filled with cheers all the way to the fort.

As he is playing the role of a Bihari, fans who came to the shooting set were especially from Bihar."We are diehard fans of Hrithik, so we came especially from Patna to at least see him. Since he is playing a Bihari in the film, we are hoping that he might also visit Patna for the shoot," said the admin of the club, Rishikesh Lal. Besides the fort, the film unit held its second shoot on the bank of river Ganga, Khidkiya Ghat.
After Varanasi, the shooting will commence in Bhopal and Patna, 10 days each. But it has been decided that Patna will be the last destination of the movie shoot. For some major shooting sets in Mumbai will be recreated as Patna and other cities. Recently the first-look of the film Super 30 was released.

Hrithik Roshan Super 30 is based on a mathematics wizard named Anand Kumar from Bihar. Based in Patna, Anand Kumar prepares 30 economically backward students for IIT each year with a remarkable success rate. In this movie, the Greek god can be seen in a unique get-up with a heavy beard and unkempt hair.

"The movie is at present being shot in Varanasi, where I have spent a considerable part of my early life. I have been told that the crew will visit Patna too for shooting. Looking at the hard work and dedication involved in the project, I am confident it will turn out to be a biopic that does full justice to the theme and the ambience", Anand Kumar said.

Hrithik will be seen in a deglamorized look as seen in the first look Super 30 and will be speaking a perfect Bihari accent. We as an audience are all very excited to see this new side of Hrithik.

Veerey Ki Wedding Trailer review!

Veerey Ki wedding Trailer  Review

The trailer of the most anticipated movie of the year has finally arrived. The trailer of “ Bollywood movie Veerey Ki Wedding” was launched yesterday and since then it has been creating a lot of positive buzz among the movie lovers. The trailer has been well appreciated by the critics and people just love the first look of the movie. The actors have put up a great performance in the movie and if you haven’t gone through the trailer yet then just watch and enjoy it.

Ok, now after thoroughly going through YouTube and all sorts of social media, you will be utterly confused as you didn’t saw any trace of the Kareena Kapoor Khan’s starrer movie. Don’t get confused as, it’s not the trailer of the most anticipated movie of Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sonam Kapoor starrer Veerey Di Wedding but it’s of Veerey Ki Wedding which stars Jimmy Shergill, Pulkrit Samrat and Kriti Kharbanda and in pivotal roles. And it’s also surely not “The” one of the most anticipated movie trailers that you all have been eagerly waiting for.

The trailer which roughly runs around 3 minutes (2.42) intends to be a laugh riot, but certainly fails to do it. Veer (Pulkit Samrat) tries to imitate his god father Salman Khan and is seen beating up the goons as he loves to solve problems of people. His first dialogue in the trailer, Main Logon ki Problem Solve Karta Hoon (I solve people’s problem) is his life motto and is backed by his elder brother Balli, played by Jimmy Shergill who himself in the movie is a bigger goon. While looking through the trailer, one can truly sense in the first few seconds that Pulkit miserably fails to portray the character of a young angry macho man.

The trailer then unfolds the love interest of Veer, Geet played by Kirti Kharbanda with typical Bollywood style of dancing and singing. What unfolds next is a verbal spat between the families of Veer and Geet, disagreement of Geet’s family to let Geet marry to Veer, Balli trying to interfere to persuade Geet’s parents for the marriage by giving a typical “Gunda” type “Dhamki “and then all twists and turns which makes us guessing will they Geet and Veer marry or not. (They sure will, by going through the title of the movie).

The problem of Veerey Ki wedding lies in its theme itself and also in its execution. How long will Bollywood try these all funky stories without any logic and sense and expect audience to come at theatres??? The same old story of an angry young man, who knows nothing but beating goons for right cause, falling in love with a smart sexy girl, then both want to get married but then the girls family interrupt and for the girl her family’s wish is also her wish and after all the pain and agony there is a happy ending. We are literally bored in watching these stories over and over again.

The execution of this movie also seems a total failure. Boasting it to be a family entertainer and trying to make the audience laugh in every second of its trailer, majorly it fails to do so. Pulkit Samrat is just like a robot delivering his dialogues and dancing, Kirti’s acting is sometimes good and spontaneous and the only advantage that Veerey ki wedding can actually boast off is the screen presence of Jimmy Shergill. He is back in playing the role he is more suited, i.e. waiting since infinity to get married and also his dialogue, Dekhiye teen chare hai, Rahul, Salman Bhai aur Main, aur hamne aapse main decide kia hai, jisdin bhi shaddi karenge ikkathe karenge (see, there are three eligible bachelors, Rahul (Gandhi), Salman Bhai and me, we have decided to marry in the same day) is eventually the best comic line in the movie. The supportive staff Satish Kaushik, Supriya Karnik and Yuvika Choudhary, which consists the family of Veer and Geet tries to add to the humour quotient but fails because of the loud acting and weak direction.

The only positivity in the trailer, apart from Jimmy Shergill is the music running in the background which seems to be a good dance number for all the parties this year. So, probably it is better to skip the upcoming movie Veerey ki Wedding and take part and enjoy in Veere Di Wedding.
