Sridevi Death; It wouldn’t be an understatement to call Sridevi an icon. The lady was born to rule the silver screen. Born as Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan in the year 1963. Now Sridevi no more between us. This diva started acting at the tender age of four. Her first movie venture as an adult was in critically-acclaimed K Balachander`s Moondru Mudichu. She never looked back after that and continued to act in several massive, cult films such as Sigappu Rojakkal, 16 vayathinile, Johnny, Varumayin Niram Sivappu, Priya etc.

After spilling the magic of her phenomenal beauty and acting skills in the south, Sridevi Bollywood Career; Sridevi started her Bollywood venture as a lead in Solva Sawan, a 1978 film. A chubby-faced beauty Sridevi made her début opposite two superstars down south, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. But Moondru Mudichu was a film that brought together three superstars. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call Sridevi the first pan-Indian woman superstar who defied age, language, and state borders. In recent years, several celebrities made the transition from the south to north; but Sridevi’s success is extraordinary.

Sridevi was one of the earliest stars who proved that women-centric films could draw audiences to the theatre. No doubt she was the recipient of five Filmfare awards and The Padma Shri award. She broke all the stereotypes about older female actresses not getting a meaty role and made a power-packed comeback with English Vinglish which was a massive hit. It was a dream for all her fans across the country to see Sridevi back on the big screen after 15 years, as the beautiful and high-spirited housewife. Sridevi was there setting an example to younger actresses that female actors were no longer just arm candy, way before women-centric films were the norm.

February 24, 2018, could be called as a black day in the history of Indian cinema as the curse of mortality took away one of the finest professionals. Sridevi Boney Kapoor has left an inimitable mark on the psyche of the country, as an actor who has inspired generations. Even as we scrounge through the database to write this short piece as an ode to the powerhouse of talent that is Sridevi, the shock of sudden death of Sridevi is still incomprehensible somewhere in the corner of our hearts. The silver screen will make sure to keep her story alive even if her mortal existence ended!
